Buying a new car (and by new I mean new to you), whether it’s your first or your tenth, is always exciting. It’s also a time that is fraught with stress–stress about which model to buy, how much to spend and whether or not that sweet-talking salesmen is telling the truth when he says that it has only ever had one elderly lady driver who kept it in the garage most of the time. (On a brief side-not here, really, there must be a hugely disproportionate number of older ladies who own cars simply to keep in their garage–where are all the dealers selling cars that have had 5 18-yr-old boy drivers who’ve taken them up to schoolies to chuck burn-outs?). Anyway, if your head is filled with car loans and engine capacities and talk of kilometres per litre then you’ve come to the right place–this article has a few tips that will see you on your way to finding the set of wheels that are right for YOU!
Think about Your Specific Needs
Before being able to find a car to meet your needs, you have to know what your needs are. How often are you going to drive it? Are you going to need a lot of boot space for something that’s a part of your life, such as a business you run or an instrument your play, or even a stroller for the kids? Also, think about where you’ll be driving it. 4WD is a very attractive feature of course but is it really worth it if the last time you went camping was in the 90′s? Identifying your needs is the first step to finding what you want, and while it seems simple you’ll probably find there are things on the list you never thought of looking for, or better yet, the list might point fair and square to something you’ve already considered!
